How you can help us
|
|
|
We rely on grants and donations to maintain our
core activity and implement new projects. We have many projects that we
would be grateful for funding for.
- To enable the bureau to deliver the kind of
modern service needed today, we need help to purchase IT equipment and
train bureau staff to use it
- We always need money for equipment for example,
to improve access for people with disabilities
- If you are upgrading office equipment, we may
be able to make use of your old equipment
- We are always interested in discussing new
partnerships
- To help us promote our services in the local
community, we need sponsors for leaflets, posters and our annual report.
- Donations from raffles, quizzes or sponsored
events no matter how big or small, are always welcome
- If you are a company, do you have staff that
you could second, encourage to volunteer or who could provide mentoring
skills to the bureau? Would you consider setting up Payroll Giving?
Whether you are an individual, company or
charitable trust, if you would like to support us then please do Contact us

Other ways of donating
|
|
|
There are three other ways to donate money to Macclesfield Wilmslow and
District Citizens Advice Bureau: set up a regular donation, through
your payroll or leaving a legacy in your will.
- To set up a regular donation please contact the
manager for a standing order form.
- You can donate funds directly from your salary
- through 'Payroll Giving'. Donations are deducted before
tax so each £1.00
you give will only cost you 78p, and if you're a higher rate tax payer
it will only cost you 60p.
We can offer facilities via
either CharityGiving
or the Charity
Aid Foundation .
Please contact the the manager for further details.
- Everyone should make a will and you can include
within your will, a legacy to help support the work of
Macclesfield Wilmslow and District Citizens Advice Bureau.
Because the bureau is a charity, a gift will not be subject to
inheritance tax. Legacies provide a vital source of income to many
charities, and Macclesfield Wilmslow and District Citizens Advice
Bureau is no exception.

Where does the money go?
|
|
|
We are lucky enough to get funding
from several sources.
Those who fund specific projects set us targets to
meet and this work is mostly carried out by paid
caseworkers with paid admin support and some paid managerial
time too. There is a need for our workers to keep abreast of current
legislation too, which involves attending training courses and travel
expenses. Those projects which involve home visiting have travel costs
too. And there is the cost of running the premises, post, stationery,
phones, furniture, IT support, hardware and software.
Most people who come to us are seen by one of our
team of over 50 trained volunteer advice workers. These wonderful
people give us over 300 hours of their time a week
- the equivalent in time of 8 full time paid staff per week, saving us
around £350,000 a year in salary costs. But the volunteers
need to be trained to a very high standard and supported in the work
they do by paid advice session supervisors, admin staff and other
specialist workers. All this costs money too.
But we also raise a lot of income for the local
community by identifying benefits that are not claimed, helping people
manage and reschedule their debts (including Council Tax arrears for
the local authority), avoid homelessness by negotiating on rent and
mortgage arrears and identifying and claiming grants from local and
national charities. We increase the income of our clients by several
million pounds each year in this way.
None of this would be possible without the funding
we get. And the more we are given, the more people we can help in this
way and the more money gets spent in the local economy - so every one
benefits!
