Villagers in Poynton now have access to the services of a new
Citizens Advice Bureau.
The CAB
has set up a base in the Civic Hall, off
Park Lane after receiving essential financial contributions from
Poynton Town Council, Cheshire East Council, Johnnie Johnson Housing
and Cheshire Peaks and Plains Housing Trust.
It opened on 30th September 2009 and provides an invaluable service to residents needing help and advice from
experts on a wide range of topics.
Cheshire East Council contributed £5,000 to the
project which will initially run as a pilot for 12 months.
Cllr David Brown, Portfolio Holder for Local Area
Partnerships in Cheshire East Council, said: "We are delighted to be
able to support the CAB
which
provides such an invaluable service not only in the Cheshire East area,
but countrywide.
"It provides not only financial advice, which is
vital in this economic climate, but advice on all manner of topics and
in Poynton, its services will be used by residents from a wide
catchment area."
Opening hours of Poynton CAB are
drop-in on Wednesday, from 11am to 2pm, and Thursday, from 11am to
12.30pm plus 2 appointments on Thursday 9:30 & 10.15
arranged via ringing the Civic Centre Reception on 01625-872238.
